In Her Shoes

It's no surprise that I LOVE Weddings. I love going to weddings, seeing beautiful venues and dresses, being inspired by the decorations, dancing with Kyle, and catching up with friends. So it would not be surprising that I watched some of the Royal Wedding today. I have not been glued to the tv the weeks before the wedding but today I wanted to see it. I wanted to see her beautiful dress{which I LOVED, I knew having a lace dress was "in" ;)}, see how the church was decorated, and see what people wore to a Royal Wedding.

I think Kate seems classy, down-to-earth, and is very refreshing in a society that tells little girls and women that they need to have the "perfect body", an "in" hair style, to party and act wild to have friends, wear scandalous clothes to get noticed, and having more is always better. For someone who just became royalty, I think the way Kate looks on her wedding day is a great example for women. She looks like herself and does not seem to be conforming to how society tells her to act or look.

Indoor Pool?

I wish our indoor pool looked like this! Beautiful, flawless, clean, with plants all around. Instead, the indoor pool I'm referring to in our house is our basement that keeps flooding :( It gets filled with dirt, water ankle high or more, and takes forever to get dry. Kyles hard work in refinishing our basement is now getting slightly ruined because of all the rain we have been having. Some positives about the whole situation are that we are working on the leaks now and at least we are finding out this problem now instead of the basement being finished, thanks Lord! Also none of Kyle's UK stuff was ruined by the water and we have moved practically everything out of the basement to prevent it ruining anything.  I'm not trying to complain but having our basement/garage have water in it three times and counting is no longer fun. The clean up process is long and tedious{I have a great husband who has done most of the clean up!!}

So if you visit I hope our indoor pool is gone when you come :)

Two Down Three to Go

Dear Husband

I'm so proud of you!! You are doing AWESOME in Paramedic school! I love that it is starting to click and you are recognizing what your learning in class at work. It will never get old to me you sharing stories from work, so keep them coming :) Babe my prayer is that the Lord would continue to give you wisdom, endurance, and strength to make it through the next few months! Keep it up babe!

Something new

I had mentioned here that I wanted to try something new every month. I may not have shared them all on my blog but here are some recent desserts that I have tried. My motto when making a dinner or dessert is that it needs to not have lots of ingredients or take a long time to make. These desserts fit into that category :)

I think less is more with this dessert. It was really rich, I love Reese Peanut Butter cups but it was too rich for me. The people at worked loved it and asked for the recipe :)

I have a 40 min to hour drive to and from work five days a week. I decided to start listening to books that I get from the Library to make the time go by quicker. I have been listening to "Love and War: Finding the Marriage You've Dreamed Of ". To say that I LOVED this book is an understatement, it has been one of the best books I have ever read! Maybe because of where I am in my life but I truly have been encouraged, given hope, and received lots of Godly advice about marriage from this book. I will share more about what I have been learning but here are some things from the book that I really loved about marriage.

"Marriage is fabulously hard. Everybody who has been married knows this. Though years into marriage it still catches us off guard, all of us. And newly married couples, when they discover how hard it is, they seem genuinely surprised. Shocked, and disheartened, by the fact. Are we doing something wrong? Did I marry the right person?......Of course marriage is hard. For heaven's sake, bring  together a man and a woman-two creatures who think, act, and feel so differently you would think they'd come from separate solar systems--and ask them to get along for the rest of their lives under the same roof."

"God gave us each to each other because we need someone to watch our back. We need someone to pick us up when we fall."

"...you are the human being who plays the most significant role in your spouse's life. It is not your spouse's mother or father. It is not your spouse's favorite teacher, author, or pastor. It is you."

" The first big shock we receive in marriage is that it is hard. The second great shock usually follows hard on the heels of the first--that we are, both of us, a royal mess."

" God knows who you are going to marry. When you do marry that person, your spouse becomes the one person you were supposed to marry...it really is true "that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose {Romans 8:28}"--Many people questions why they married someone all the time, I think this is a great statement to tell them.

I can't wait to share more. I will be recommending this book to all my friends. It has given me great wisdom on how to talk to others about marriage and also what I would want Kyle and I's marriage to become :) Lord thanks for allowing me to soak up your wisdom!

Final Four :)

To say Kyle LOVES UK is an understatement, he bleeds blue! He would have our house covered in UK stuff if I would let him, but that's what his man cave is for :) He is sooo excited they are in the Final Four {a little disappointed they did not make it last year when Kyle and Timmy were at the Final Four and Final Game in Indianapolis}. The UK vs Ohio State game was unbelievable! Kyle gets asked all the time why he likes UK when he lives in Ohio. Kentucky beating Ohio State was icing on the cake, Kyle got lots of text messages from sad Ohio State fans when the game was over.
