Home away from Home

Whenever I am looking for a little getaway from Cincinnati I head to Lexington. It is far enough that I feel like I am away but also close enough so the drive does not take too long to get home. Two besties live in Lexington {or right around there} Ashley and Leah. Whenever we are together we have a great time, lounging around for some of the time, watching America's Next Top Model {man that show is addicting} but this time we got sucked into Khloe Kardashian's wedding special. We usually have no itinerary, just plan stuff as the day goes along and it is a nice break for me to not have everything planned. This past weekend I was down in Lexington and we went to the Pinnacles. After the pinnacles we headed to Ashley's parents house in Rockcastle. I have not seen her parents or sisters in a long time, it was great to catch up with them again :) I had such a great time relaxing and getting to hang out!

It may look like Ashley was prepared for our hike but this is actually her sister's backpack. We found them on the trail and used her bag since we did not bring any water ourselves.

A few of them {look closely you can see Ashley's blonde hair} took the road less traveled. They climbed over the boulders to get to the end of the path. I am a girl who does not get off the beaten path and the hiking was enough to get my heart beating fast. I did not need the thrill of almost falling to get me there :)

It's hard to believe

It is hard to believe we have had Bentley for a year! It really seems like we have had him much longer. I remember being super nervous about getting him since the shelter we got him from made him seem like a terror. The shelter just wanted to make sure he would not be taken back since we are the third people to have Bentley {the second people had him for 24 hrs and then brought him back}. We should have known Bentley was a chewer since he chewed his leash in half on the car ride home from getting him. The first couple of months with Bentley were a little rough, he never wanted to come in {he thought he was going to have to stay in the cage all the time like he did at the shelter}, would pull on walks, dug at our carpet, got out of the yard by slinking under the fence, and having to let him out in the middle of the night to use the restroom.

He may have been high maintenance for a few months and he is still needy but I am really glad we have him! He is great company when Kyle is not home and he gives me an excuse to take walks and not be lazy. I am really glad Kyle wanted to get a dog, I know for Kyle it is really nice to have Bentley greet him when he has had a hard day at work. There are a few things that I am not happy Bentley has done like dig at our carpet {but we are ripping it up so maybe he thought he was helping ;)}, making a hole in our brand new {to us} couches {you can't tell now because I have a throw over it but I was livid when I came home and saw what he did}, or run away so we have to chase him down the street but the good outweighs the bad :)

Hey batter batter

Kyle loves playing all sports. He goes through phases of which ones he likes the most {though golf he plays all the time} and right now he is into softball. He got his first home run {which I missed :(} but the few games I have gone to his team has lost so maybe it's better if I don't go. I would like to play softball sometime and actually think I would be pretty good. Maybe we will do a co-ed league ;)

Have you heard this song? I think it is a good song to describe my relationship with my dad. When my Mom was pregnant they told her she was going to have another boy. To the surprise of my Mom and Dad they had a little girl but that did not stop my Dad from wanting to teach me to hunt and fish like my brother{who is ten years older than me}. Some of my favorite memories with my dad are going fishing, not really hunting since I don't like the cold weather and I only shot animals with a camera not a gun but they are still memories I will never forget. Thanks Dad for getting me up early to go fishin', I'll never forget those memories!

They say the darndest things

My mom gets to watch our Nephew on Wednesdays and Fridays. I know the memories he is making with his Mamaw Jackson will be something he remembers when he gets older. Here is a cute conversation that had me laughing really hard that was sparked by this statue that they saw while driving.

One other funny story to share about our Nephew. My Mom is growing tomatoes and Jeremy picked one for her being really helpful. My mom said you could tell his little mind was thinking of something as he held the tomato in his hand and all of a sudden he threw it on the ground and my mom screamed no. He thought it was going to bounce since it was round like a ball and all my mom could think about was how that tomato was no longer edible :)

My favorite wedding idea

I had mentioned that we did a Time Capsule for our wedding. Guests could write their predictions for 1,5,15, and 25 years from now and we will read them on our anniversaries. Kyle and I read the predictions for our one year anniversary and I kept thinking what a great idea this is! I love that we will be able to look back at the well wishes from our friends and family and get to see if there predictions are right.
